For the past several months, Redeemer Church has supported Scott and Ruth Hill in Cherokee, NC. We were able to assist this family meet the funding goal necessary to begin full-time ministry in the Qualla Boundary. In July 2015, the Hills began a Bible Study at the MTW Camp. Items for prayer include the following: For Scott and his future plans to start leading worship on the campground in June 2016, for Ruth as she serves at the Cancer Group Center, and for the Camp Bible study to be fruitful in growth and ministry. You can meet the Hill Family at Hearts for Harvest and hear firsthand about their ministry and provide them with much needed encouragement.
After serving in youth ministry since 1995, the Cosner’s heard the call of God to serve as full time missionaries and moved in the summer of 2014 toBelize. Mike, an ordained teaching elder in the PCA, serves as the Team Leader and works alongside a Belizean pastor. He preaches and leads worship every other week at two churches in Belize City. Along with regular visits to the prison, he is also working to develop mercy ministry programs to the hungry and homeless. In addition to assisting with revitalization and leadership development, he also trains and equips local church leaders in the area of youth and family ministries. Both Mike and Chrissy assist with short-term mission teams and interns from the U.S. wanting to serve in Belize. Their entire family is engaged in local mercy ministries on a daily basis. The Cosner’s prayer is that the gospel will change lives, one family at a time, and impact the churches, communities and country for Christ. RUF Students at the Winter Conference
RUF Update from Rev. Nate Bower
The spring semester at the University of Akron is rapidly coming to a close. Our RUF large group has dedicated the semester to studying various biblical relationships, from friendship and marriage to how we steward the earth. These topics have peaked the interest of our students, resulting in stimulating discussion and deeper reflection into the scriptures. In small groups, the book of Ruth continues to be studied and taught by both Nate and some of our student leaders. Nate continues to diligently meet one on one with many students during the week. The discipleship and counseling that happens during these meetings is vital to the spiritual health of our students.
Winter Conference, at the end of February, was a wonderful time of community building and learning for all of our students that attended. Two students were able to confess their faith during this weekend of preaching and teaching through Ecclesiastes in Large Group by Rev. Richie Sessions and various other seminars taught by other RUF Campus Ministers.
Summer Conference is fast approaching and we expect around 20 students to make the trek to Laguna Beach for the week of May 14th! Please pray that this time of worship, study, and fun would deepen the faith of our students and continue to knit together the RUF Akron community. If you are interested in donating scholarship money for a student to attend Summer Conference please click the “Donate Now” button below.
As we finish year 3 in Akron, we are ever thankful for your continued love and support for us. We feel the presence of God in our ministry here and are certain of his call upon our lives to reflect the light of Christ to these students, who are quickly becoming dear to our hearts.
1. Pray for our students as they prepare for final exams, summer internships and pursue job opportunities.
2. Pray that our time this summer spent fundraising and planning for the fall would be fruitful.
3. Pray that God would continue to bless our financial supporters and connect us with new churches and individuals that would join our support team.
4. Pray for the churches that will receive these students over the summer, that they would welcome them and minister to their souls.
5. Pray for us as we prepare for the birth of our baby boy in July!
